WAV at 44.1kHz and 24-bit is the usual master file. It is larger than MP3, but it keeps the transfer intact for future use.

Most orders are priced per carrier, with WAV and 256kbps MP3 included unless you ask for something else. The minimum order is £18. Standard lead time is 7 working days for up to 12 items.

Before You Add It Up
- Minimum order is £18.
- USB sticks are £8 for 32GB, or you may supply your own.
- Local collection and return is £12 within 6 miles of S7.
- Collection and return within 12 miles is £20, including Dronfield, the Rotherham edge and north Chesterfield.
- Postal return is by Royal Mail Tracked 48 charged at cost.
- Orders over £120 are 50% on booking, with the balance before release of files.
- Lead time is 7 working days for up to 12 items, or 10 to 15 working days for larger family boxes.

What The Price Covers
Each item is inspected, logged and played on an appropriate deck. Levels are set cleanly, sides are captured in real time, and files are named from the labels, boxes or notes you provide. WAV and 256kbps MP3 are supplied as standard, with FLAC or 320kbps MP3 available on request.
Martin keeps a pale green chinagraph pencil beside the Revox because it marks leader tape without leaving crumbly flakes in the heads. That is the sort of detail the workshop is built around: small habits that stop old carriers being treated like disposable media.

Space-Saving Copy
MP3 at 256kbps is included because it plays easily on phones, cars and shared family folders. 320kbps is available if preferred.

Lossless Request
FLAC can be supplied for collectors and musicians who want a smaller lossless file without giving up archive quality.
Work Turned Away
Boundaries Are Part Of Care
Some work is refused because it is unsafe for the carrier, unclear in rights or better handled by a conservation specialist. We would rather say no plainly than risk a tape that cannot be replaced.
- Tapes with active mould, vinegar syndrome or wet contamination.
- Copying commercial albums or films simply to avoid buying a digital edition.
- Bootleg duplication or any transfer intended for resale without rights clearance.
- Lacquer acetates, wax cylinders, wire recordings or cracked shellac discs.
- Secret recordings where consent or legal ownership is unclear.
- Forensic enhancement for court use or surveillance audio.
